Often people in need of psychological help do not acknowledge or recognize their own problems which significantly affect them and, of course, those around them. That is why they do not seek help, and even worse, refuse to see a doctor, and as a result the problems remain or even worsen.
In that case, you can seek advice from a general practitioner, contact social services or in an acute violent situation, call the police and emergency service.
A person may be forcibly detained in a hospital if a psychiatrist assesses that they pose a danger to one's own or someone else's life and health. The issue of possible forced placement in treatment in a psychiatric institution is jointly resolved by legal and medical services.
