Polysomnography clinic
Polysomnography (PSG) is the most reliable and accurate method for diagnosing sleep breathing disorders (apnea) and for determining other sleep structure disorders.
The polysomnography procedure at the Insula County Special Hospital consists of admitting the patient to our Laboratory for Sleep Disorders and getting acquainted with the test procedure.
Standardized questionnaires are routinely completed, the patient's height, weight, blood pressure, pulse are measured, and other documentation and medical history is taken before the start of the recording.
During continuous all-night recording on a polysomnographic device, we monitor the parameters of brain waves, breathing, heartbeat, the amount of oxygen in the blood, chest and abdominal movements, tracheal vibrations, leg movements, blood pressure and body position, and perform video surveillance.
The imaging is performed using one of two "Alice 6" polysomnography devices manufactured by Philips Respironics and supervised by medical personnel.
